India ranks 12th in terms of power generation from nuclear source: IAEA

According to the data published by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Indiaranked at 12th
position in terms of power generation.
This rank is out of 31 countries as there are thirty one countries including India in the world which generate electricity from nuclear source.
However, it stood at 6th position in terms of number of reactors in operation.
About Nuclear power in India:
The current installed nuclear power capacity is 5780 MW. This is expected to increase to 10080 MW on completion of pending projects by 2019.Nuclear power plants India                                                     Projects launching in 2015 include: Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana (GHAVP) Units 1&2, Kudankulam Units 3&4.
India has signed Nuclear agreements with USA, France, Russia, Namibia, Mongolia, South Korea, Argentina, United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Canada, Sri Lanka and Australia.
Nuclear power is the fourthlargest source of electricity in India after thermal, hydroelectric and renewable sources of electricity.
As of 2013, India has 21 nuclear reactors in operation in 7 nuclear power plants.
